Encaustic Mixed Media
Encaustic painting involves using melted beeswax (mixed with resin and pigments) as a medium and applying heat to fuse the wax to the artwork surface. Its history can be traced back to the Fayum mummy portraits during the Roman occupation in Egypt 2000 years ago. Working with wax is both challenging and meditative but definitely rewarding – producing artwork that is intimate and tactile. (For more information, click here.)
