About Johwey

Hi! My name is Johwey Redington. I currently reside in Northern Illinois but I am originally from the Philippines. I worked as an architect for several years after studying both architecture and business management. I practiced my profession with great fervor and passion, undertaking mostly retail and residential projects. I loved the feeling of being able to provide memorable experiences for my clients through the spaces I created for them. My great-grandfather was the first registered architect in the Philippines, a fact which inspired me even more and made me feel that I had found my calling.

As I later experienced, family life tends to change a person’s priorities. Having two daughters, I felt the need to focus on my family first. After my eldest daughter graduated grade school and with my second daughter thirsting for knowledge but not quite ready to attend school yet, I willingly put my career on pause and devoted my time to homeschooling them.

Being a hopeless workaholic (I can never just sit down and do nothing), I managed to take a photography course and explore the world of mixed media and collage in between teaching my two daughters who are seven years apart and taking care of my family and household. With photography and mixed media art, I rediscovered a whole new passion.
