Inside the Nostalgia Art Journal

Posted on | June 9, 2010 | 28 Comments

Here’s a peek inside my Nostalgia Art Journal. The pages are made from old books and magazines, brown paper bags, recycled mail envelopes, maps, and other found paper. This journal is very close to my heart because it’s very representative of me – from the pages that I used to how I put them and the cover together.

The journal has an inside pocket and the first page includes a quote that reads “Savor the quiet moments and know how very much you matter in this world.” – a nice inspiration every time you open the journal.
Some pages feature handpainted backgrounds using mixed media.

Check out my previous post to see what the cover looks like. And this journal (made with so much love) is for sale on Etsy here. Sold!

Your journal is so inspiring! I love how your pages have some sewing on it! I also love the idea that you have pages made up from so many wonderful finds! Very very inspiring! My little journal have something similar filled with pages with some sewing on it as well. Thank you so much for sharing your loveliness with us! Have a lovely merry happy day and love to you!

Thanks Jacqueline. I’d love to see your journals. And yeah, the best part of this journal is recycling paper that will usually just end up in the trash.

Thanks for the wonderful comment and go buy yourself a sewing machine now so you can finish your journals. :D

It’s a very worthy investment (the sewing machine).

Wow, just wow, Johwey! Gosh I’m so jealous. I have no talent like this what so ever. It looks really great.

I finally finished my project for my mom. The Flick set is http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonloucks/sets/72157624130596121/

Can I ask how you take your photos? Do you have one of big fancy cameras? All I have is a Nikon Coolpix. LOL Anytips would be very much of help!

I have a Nikon D80 and my default lens is a 35mm. I love using natural light which flows from my patio door to my dining table where I usually take photos of artwork and other stuff – that’s why I also usually take photos in the morning. (Hope this helps.) :D

Lovely journal, I love incorporating the sewing with the pages. I haven’t done that as much as I would like to. Just curious on how you bound your pages? I can’t wait to look around your site here and see more of what you are doing~ I am in the flying lessons, glad to meet you! ~Theresa
